Mentoring Institute July 6 - 8, 2009

The Mentoring workshop is an interactive learning environment where educators experience the role of mentee and mentor in an active learning environment that models a growth culture using structured self-reflection (self-assessment). Participants gain many tools and techniques for improving a mentee’s learning skills, applying a mentoring process, designing specific experiences for increasing mentee success, and strengthening abilities to improve assessment processes in one’s self and in a mentee. Faculty, advisors, and administrators explore personal educational philosophies, analyze their own approaches to help others grow, and share their ideas with peers to obtain feedback. Participants gain personal growth in learning skills that help them to improve institutional learning-outcomes through mentoring. Participants leave with an increased willingness to take on new challenges in mentoring.
