Purpose

The classroom is a tremendous place for using assessment to improve student learning. Assessments can be used prior to class, during class, and after class; within teams, individually, or with the class as a whole. The power of assessment truly changes the percentage of students who are successful.

Learning Outcomes

The institute will provide strategies, techniques, and tools which will help participants learn about:

  • The role of self-assessment to improve student learning and success

  • Assessing assessments to improve the quality of assessment and assessment tools in practice

  • Performing real-time assessment of student learning to determine learning issues and intervention opportunities

  • The Student Success Toolbox and various assessment instruments for classroom assessment

  • Motivating students to complete mid-term and end-of-term assessments
